Coastal Crafts new 30 and 33 Profish

Like the ebb and flows of life, Coastal Craft, with their history of building quality aluminum boats, has recently taken a step back to blend the best of the last 10 years with the best of their origins.  The new Profish 30 upon first glance is a home run for anyone looking for the ultimate boat under 40 ft. Changing from their standard Volvo inboards found on their 65 and popular 45, the new 30 and 33 ProFish models come stocked with twin Mercury’s 350 outboard. Cruising at 40 knots, the first thing that struck me besides the acoustics of the outboards reminding me more of a sports car than a fishing boat, was the comfort in which we were cutting through the variable seas as we look for calm waters to film. Similar to the rest of the Coastal Craft models, the strength and comfort of the ride is surpassed with the finely finished interior. Having a fishing boat with this level of interior really separates it from any comparison in my mind. Both models, the 30 and 33 have a large V berth with the larger model also having a second berth on the port side.  Being able to sleep 4,  without having to use the salon table is a great feature on a boat this size.  The articulating seat backs on the salon table really maximize the space eliminating the need for a separate forward facing chair to pair with the helm. This extra space helps create its spacious galley and space enough to put in a surprisingly spacious head with a shower. Much needed on any sport fishing boat is a large aft deck with numerous custom rod holders and plenty of storage below the deck. Priced similar to a popular fibreglass comparative boat like a Grady White, this boat, not only surpasses its quality with its warm wooden finished interior and strong, rigid and reliable aluminum hull and superstructure. Its pretty easy to say this is my favourite new boat on the market.
