Shearwater Resort and Marina, also known as the “Gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest”, is located on the central coast of British Columbia. Our strategic location makes Shearwater the ideal location for Sport Fishing and eco-tourism; moreover Shearwater is the central hub for mariners heading to and from Alaska or Haida Gwaii via the inside passage. Our destination has all of the amenities that you could ever wish for in a wilderness environment: a two lodge hotel, various private accommodations, a 9,000sq ft restaurant and bar, transient moorage, fuel dock, marine repair shipyard, groceries, potable water from an artesian well, liquor outlet, hardware store, laundromat, showers, boat rentals, fishing tackle, free WiFi and more!
MARINA
Whether heading on northern or southern journeys – we are there for you.
All boaters are welcome to moor along our 1,500 ft of concrete floats – with power (15, 30 & 50amp), free high speed WiFi and potable water on the dock. You’ll also smile ear to ear when you see 5 bars of cellular service!
The Marine Centre at Shearwater Marine Resort offers seasonal moorage, docks, services and facilities to help you stock up, clean up or just kick back. But, be warned, with so much happening at Shearwater Resort you may be tempted to stay longer than you first thought.
ECO-ADVENTURES
Shearwater Resort and Marina is the Gateway to the Great Bear Rainforest where wildlife is abundant in this vast area of temperate rainforest. Bald eagles, Sitka deer and bears—grizzlies, black bears and the rare white Spirit Bear—are all found here. Spend days watching Humpback Whales, Orcas, steller Sea lions, Dall’s porpoises and harbour seals and enjoy the sounds and sights in one of the most untamed areas of British Columbia.
Whale watching of Orca’s (or Killer Whales), Humpback Whales, and Grey Whales is made available all season long because of our special area on the Central West Coast of BC. We even get to see Pacific White-sided Dolphins due to our close proximity to the open ocean.
In addition to whale watching there are natural Hot Springs with endless vistas of the Coastal Mountain Range to enjoy, Black, Grizzly and Kermode (Spirit) bear viewing is also a popular attraction in the late summer when enthusiasts view these incredible mammals feasting on the spawning salmon.
